Our very own Recording-Secretary Jack Karbowski with Jamie Lee Curtis
When Jamie Lee Curtis heard she was scheduled for a book signing in Michigan on September 26th, she decided to arrive a day early to cheer on some kindred spirits.
And that's how the actress happened to pop into the Obama campaign headquarters in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Canton Township on Thursday.

The Machinists Motor City Lodge 698 Receives Award of Appreciation From The El Paso, TX VFW Post 812 Commander Ramon Saiz
While attending the 2007 automotive conference in Phoenix, Arizona last month President Stuart Proctor of IAMAW Motor City Lodge 698 was paid a surprise visit by Ramon Saiz, the Commander of VFW Post 812 El Paso, Texas.
Commander Saiz made the trip to show his appreciation to the Local Lodge President who’s membership pledged a $1000.00 donation last month to the VFW Post to aid in supplying dinners for our Military Troops heading out to the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan that are stationed at the Ft. Bliss military base in El Paso, Texas.

The VFW post supports hundreds of troops every month by providing dinners and support for troops that are returning from or shipping out to the conflict in the Iraq and Afghanistan region. Local Lodge 698 membership stepped up to the plate and pledged support which enabled the VFW to continue to provide these volunteer dinners for our troops.
President Proctor vowed to continue support for our troops, and commends the VFW for their efforts, dedication and hard work by making life for our troops just a little more comforting.
The VFW Post 812 in El Paso is known for its humanitarian efforts for our troops, and continues to provide support to our troops through donations of food, supplies and support for those families who lost loved ones in the conflict. To learn more about the VFW’s efforts, you can visit them on the web at www.vfwpost812.com
While our troops are continuing to defend our freedoms, we will continue to defend their jobs here at home. The Local Lodge is honored to offer such support for our troops, and will continue to aid in anyway we can. The Motor City’s Fighting Machinists feel’s each lodge should offer their support as well.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers support our military men and women's efforts, and will continue to pray for each and every one of them for a safe return home.
God Bless America and Our Troops!!!
Congratulations To John Phillips and John Rothermel
